A Presentation (16/7/14)

She stands in the auditorium
Knuckles start to whiten on the lectern.
One drop of sweat rolls down her cheek.
At least, she thinks it is sweat.

Very slowly, they start to come.
All her secrets, one by one.
She thinks of strip poker
And now she is nearly naked.

The last is yet to be spoken
And she can barely bring herself to say it.
She thinks she loves him.
She says this in a whisper.

She squeezes her eyes shut.
Her hair sticks to her neck.
Waiting for the inevitable shame
That comes with such a confession.

She stands in the empty auditorium.
Plush red seats look silently on
As she ruffles her papers
And leaves the room.
